About Gaziantep

With a history of 5600 years, Gaziantep is one of the oldest cities in the world; currently it is the largest city of Turkey’s Southeast Region and the 8th largest city in the whole of Turkey. The city’s population increases at the second fastest growing rate after Istanbul and is estimated to reach 3.000.000 by the year 2025. Gaziantep is a center of attraction in terms of internal migration, with approximately 17 million people living in two and a half hours distance from the city. With the recent facilitation of visa procedures between Syria and Turkey, the city has seen a dramatic increase in the number of visitors.

Gaziantep’s socio-economic and cultural development has accelerated greatly in the last few years. It serves as a significant intersection between the international commerce routes that reach beyond the borders of Turkey into the Middle East and the Mediterranean. Gaziantep’s industrial and commercial infrastructure develops rapidly. As of today, the city’s yearly export has already reached a figure well above 3.5 billion dollars. This figure equals 80% of the region’s entire export, and 92% of its industrial export. Gaziantep firmly advances along the path to become the major center of industry, commerce, finance, culture, arts, tourism, education and health in the region.
